Profotos Staff Evaluation:
Intriguing lighting, dramatic angles, and compelling composition are just some of the attributes which you will see within the porfolio of professional photographer, Christopher Revon. Several of the images included in Christopher's portfolio are perfect examples of the flawless execution of traditional compositional "rules" and elements. Along with these traditionally composed images, there are many others in Christopher's portfolio which break the "rules" and belong to a completely different class of photographic composition.
The image on this page is a great example of Christopher's mastery of compositional skills in photography. Within this image are several elements which work together to produce a very strong photograph. We will attempt to emphasize these elements by methodically critiquing this powerful image: the dim lighting falling on the subject adds a sense of mystery and intrigue to this image, as it creates a very "soft" composition, which allows the shadows to fall off into darkness; the specular highlight on the subject's nose creates a point of "focus" where the viewer's eyes may begin to explore the image; analogous color is employed within the image which adds greatly to the photograph's mystery and mood, and finally; the composition is classic, with a tight crop of the subject's face, which is perfectly positioned within the frame to allow it room to "look into" on the right side of the frame.
Although we do not usually go into this type of descriptive detail while writing reviews of photographers' works on Profotos, we feel this is the best way to emphasize just how talented Christopher is in his photography. This is the type of critiquing our staff employs behind the scenes of Profotos, each time we consider a photographer for inclusion on the site.
As we stated in the first paragraph of this review, you will find several examples of this type of "traditional" composition within Christopher's portfolio. You will also see photographs in Christopher's portfolio which break out of the traditions and rules of photography. These non-traditional images are very striking, incredible images which are sure to have in impact upon your vision and understanding of photographic style.
